Priyanka Chopra Jonas Targeted by Deepfake Technology

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas has become the latest victim of deepfake technology. A video of her promoting a brand and revealing her annual income at an event began circulating online, sparking discussions about her wealth and income sources. However, many viewers noticed discrepancies in the video, ultimately revealing it to be a fake.

Unlike typical deepfakes where a celebrity’s face is morphed onto another individual, this video manipulated the original footage by replacing Chopra Jonas’ voice and dialogue with a fabricated brand promotion. This deceptive technique made it more difficult for viewers to discern the video’s authenticity.

The incident comes just days after deepfake videos of other prominent Bollywood actresses, including Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, and Rashmika Mandanna, surfaced online. Mandanna addressed the alarming rise of deepfakes, stating that their normalization was unacceptable. She expressed her doubts about the impact of speaking out against such practices but emphasized the importance of raising awareness.

The increasing prevalence of deepfakes poses a significant threat to celebrities and public figures. As technology advances, the creation of these manipulated videos becomes increasingly sophisticated, making it more challenging to distinguish them from reality. This highlights the need for increased vigilance and awareness surrounding this emerging technology and its potential misuse.
