Sanam Saeed Speaks Out on Emotional Abuse and Divorce Stigma

Pakistani actress Sanam Saeed shared a powerful message on social media addressing emotional abuse, divorce stigma, and the silent struggles women face in toxic marriages, alongside behind-the-scenes photos from her drama Kafeel.

In her post, Saeed reflected on her character Zeba, describing her as a “sweet mama bear” who finally finds freedom after enduring years of emotional abuse. She highlighted the hidden costs of staying silent in dysfunctional relationships, particularly the impact on children exposed to constant conflict and humiliation. Despite the challenges, Zeba’s dedication helped her children grow into compassionate and well-mannered adults, deserving a peaceful environment.

Saeed also addressed the broader societal issue, emphasizing that women remain in abusive marriages not due to weakness but because abuse can psychologically and physically rewire the nervous system. She noted that hope is often mistaken for fear, with many women staying for the perceived sake of the children. She further criticized the stigma surrounding divorce, urging society to support rather than judge women who leave unhealthy relationships.

Praising her character’s journey, Saeed wrote that while Zeba may feel she lost her youth, she still has half her life ahead to embrace happiness and peace. She concluded by acknowledging writer Umera Ahmed for crafting a “powerful, relatable and honest character.”

The post resonated widely, sparking discussions about emotional abuse, societal pressures, and creating safe spaces for women and children. Fans praised Saeed for her courage in shedding light on these critical issues while promoting awareness through her work.
