Kriti Sanon Opens Up About Nepotism in Bollywood and Her Journey as an Outsider

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has shared candid insights about nepotism in the film industry, reflecting on her experiences navigating Bollywood as an outsider. Speaking at a session hosted by Anchor and News Editor Heena Gambhir, Kriti acknowledged the challenges newcomers face while highlighting the role of talent and perseverance.

“I don’t hail from a film family or have any connections. So yes, it can feel overwhelming in Mumbai, but I genuinely feel the industry has welcomed me warmly from my debut film, and I am truly thankful for that,” Kriti said. She emphasized that while nepotism exists across industries, individual effort and dedication ultimately define success.

Reflecting on missed opportunities, Kriti admitted she has lost roles to star kids and other newcomers but stressed that determination and skill remain key. “Countless times. Even if not a star kid, then someone else. Many actors today do not come from film backgrounds and are thriving. Ultimately, talent is what truly matters,” she remarked.

Kriti also shared her thoughts on the next generation, noting that while future actors with connections may gain early access, it is talent and audience resonance that sustain a long-lasting career. “You might secure a few opportunities quickly, but it is your resonance with the audience that determines whether you remain or fade away,” she added.

Her reflections underscore the balance between opportunity and merit in Bollywood, highlighting the importance of hard work, skill development, and persistence for aspiring actors outside film families.
