Kartik Aaryan Aims to Bring Back the Charm of ‘Aashiqui’ with Franchise Revival Efforts
Bollywood sensation Kartik Aaryan is reportedly on a mission to revive the iconic ‘Aashiqui’ franchise with his upcoming role in the eagerly awaited ‘Aashiqui 3’. Following the massive success of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3,’ Aaryan is keen to reinforce the power of classic franchises in Bollywood.
Initially, the third installment, directed by Anurag Basu, was set to carry the title ‘Aashiqui 3,’ but a dispute between producers T-Series and Vishesh Films resulted in a title change to ‘Tu Aashiqui Hai’. Aaryan, however, is determined to restore the original title, believing that aligning with the iconic name will add significant value to the project. The actor’s recent success with the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ series only strengthens his confidence in the marketing advantage of a familiar name.
Kartik Aaryan’s Plan for ‘Aashiqui 3’ Revival
As per a Bollywood Hungama source close to the actor, Kartik Aaryan has been in discussions with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to negotiate with Mukesh Bhatt for the title rights. With the original franchise beginning in 1990 and becoming a cultural phenomenon with the debut of Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal, Aaryan believes that this legacy will add credibility to the new film.
‘Aashiqui 2,’ the 2013 follow-up starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, not only introduced a fresh story but also attracted a huge fanbase, reaffirming ‘Aashiqui’ as one of Bollywood’s cherished romantic franchises.
More Projects in the Pipeline for Kartik Aaryan
In addition to ‘Aashiqui 3,’ Kartik Aaryan is exploring other potential sequels, including a possible follow-up to his 2018 hit, ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.’ With director Anurag Basu tied up with ‘Metro…In Dino,’ the shooting schedule for ‘Aashiqui 3’ may be pushed to next year.
Currently, Aaryan is gearing up to start filming for Mudassar Aziz’s ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh 2,’ which will mark another highly anticipated sequel in his filmography.
