Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie has disclosed that she and her children have not returned to Château Miraval, the French estate she once shared with ex-husband Brad Pitt, describing it as a place too deeply tied to the “painful events” surrounding their divorce.
In recently filed court documents dated October 6 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Maleficent star revealed that the property, which once symbolized love and family, now serves as a painful reminder of a turbulent chapter in her life.
“To this day, the children and I have never again set foot on the property, given its connection to the painful events leading to the divorce,” Jolie wrote.
The actress shared that she left Pitt in full control of their family homes in Los Angeles and Miraval “without compensation,” in hopes that it might make him “calmer” during a highly emotional period. Following their separation, Jolie focused on finding a new home for herself and their six children, while still desiring for Pitt to remain involved in their lives.
Jolie described Château Miraval as one of the couple’s earliest and most significant investments — a place that had once embodied their shared dreams. “We were married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there, and I brought our twins home from the hospital there,” she wrote. “To have such a sudden break from my home and memories has been hard, and it was especially difficult for the children.”
Though their divorce was finalized in December 2024, the legal dispute over Château Miraval continues to unfold.
Pitt, 61, filed a lawsuit in 2022, alleging that Jolie sold her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group without his consent, violating what he described as an earlier agreement. Jolie later countersued, accusing Pitt of trying to coerce her into signing a non-disclosure agreement intended to silence her about alleged abuse.
Sources close to Pitt insist the case is purely a “commercial business dispute” unrelated to their divorce proceedings. However, Jolie’s legal team maintains that the conflict represents both the lingering emotional and financial fallout from their marriage.
The once-idyllic Miraval estate — the site of their 2014 wedding and numerous family milestones — now stands as a powerful symbol of love lost and the lingering scars of one of Hollywood’s most publicized separations.
