“She needed some space,” source says of the actress’s decision to call time on their relationship
Hollywood star Ana de Armas has reportedly ended her whirlwind relationship with Tom Cruise, citing discomfort over how quickly things were progressing.
According to Us Weekly, the Ballerina actress, 37, decided to end the relationship several weeks ago after about nine months of dating the Mission: Impossible actor, 63.
“The breakup was Ana’s decision,” a source told the outlet. “Things were moving fast, and she started to get a little uncomfortable with how fast it was going.”
While the split was reportedly amicable, insiders say the two still share “undeniable chemistry” and remain on good terms.
“They still like each other a lot and want to remain friends,” the source added. “But she needed some space. They still have a connection and might see how things go in the future.”
Romance sparked on set of upcoming thriller ‘Deeper’
The pair first met and grew close while filming their upcoming thriller Deeper, where they spent long hours training together for intense underwater action scenes.
“It started as a deep professional respect and then it ignited,” a source told Daily Mail. “Tom was completely captivated by Ana — she thought he was fun, supportive, and admired how passionate he was about his work.”
Production on the film has since been temporarily paused, which insiders say has added to Ana’s sense of disappointment following the breakup.
“Ana thought this year would be very different and is disappointed,” another source told Daily Mail. “But she knows it will get better. She’s still friends with Tom and not crying at home.”
‘Better off as friends’
A separate insider told The Sun that while the couple shared great chemistry, “the spark had gone” over time.
“Tom and Ana had a good time together but realized they weren’t going to go the distance,” the source said. “They’re better off as friends.”
The duo were last seen publicly together in July, shortly before reports of their split began circulating.
Despite the end of their romance, both stars are said to be focused on their upcoming projects, with Ballerina marking Ana’s debut in the John Wick spin-off universe, and Cruise preparing for the next chapter in his Mission: Impossible franchise.
