Pakistani actress and former model Jia Ali has sparked a heated online discussion after making candid remarks about former supermodel Ayyan Ali and what she described as the darker side of Pakistan’s entertainment and fashion industry.
Jia recalled meeting Ayyan through fashion coordinator Munna and said she had advised the young model to remain cautious and maintain a low profile. Her comments later turned toward Ayyan’s rapid rise in the fashion industry and the controversy that surrounded her in 2015.
Ayyan Ali was arrested at Islamabad airport in 2015 after authorities recovered foreign currency from her possession. The case became one of the most widely discussed controversies involving a Pakistani celebrity and remained in the public spotlight for several years.
While discussing Ayyan’s success at a young age, Jia questioned whether conventional modelling assignments alone could explain the level of wealth, exposure and access the model appeared to have achieved at the time.
She pointed to Ayyan’s frequent appearances on major billboards and her rapid rise in the fashion world as examples of the attention she was receiving.
