Veteran Screenwriter Salim Khan Shows Signs of Recovery After Hospitalisation

Veteran Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan, father of superstar Salman Khan, is showing signs of recovery following a recent hospitalisation in Mumbai. The 90-year-old had been admitted to Lilavati Hospital on February 17 after experiencing high blood pressure and a minor brain haemorrhage.

Close friend and renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar shared an encouraging update with the media, stating that Salim Khan is improving steadily. “Salim is fine now. He’s okay and recovering. He’s sitting on a chair and talking, and I mean, he has improved,” Akhtar said in an interview with Hindustan Times.

Doctors confirmed that the haemorrhage was minimal and did not require major surgery. Pulmonologist Dr Jalil Parkar explained that a procedure called DSA was performed, after which Salim Khan was temporarily placed on ventilator support as a precaution due to his age. He was taken off the ventilator the following day once his condition stabilized.

Throughout his recovery, Salim Khan has received visits from several family members and Bollywood colleagues. Notable visitors included Shah Rukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Shabana Azmi, Sangeeta Bijlani, Nadeem Qureshi, and Lulia Vantur. These visits reflected the strong support and solidarity of the Bollywood community during this challenging time.

Medical authorities and family members continue to monitor Salim Khan’s health closely, emphasizing that while his condition remains stable, ongoing care is essential given his age. Fans across India have also expressed their best wishes for his speedy recovery.

The veteran writer, celebrated for his contributions to Indian cinema, is gradually regaining strength and is expected to continue recovering under close medical supervision.
