Zoha Waseem Opens Up About Single-Parent Childhood and Journey Toward Independence

Pakistani singer Zoha Waseem, popularly known as the ‘Majboori Girl’, has shared a personal story about her childhood, revealing how being raised by a single father played an important role in shaping her personality, independence, and sense of responsibility.

During her recent appearance on Fuchsia Magazine, hosted by Rabia Mughni, Zoha discussed her upbringing after her parents separated and reflected on the challenges and experiences that influenced her journey.

Talking about her childhood, the singer explained that her father’s professional commitments required him to spend most of his time in Karachi, while Zoha, her siblings, and their grandmother lived in Lahore. Due to these circumstances, she had to take on responsibilities at an early age and learn important life skills independently.

Zoha shared that managing household tasks and daily responsibilities helped her become more self-reliant compared to many people of her age. She explained that while some young individuals may not be familiar with basic household management, she learned these skills early because of her family situation.

The singer said that her childhood experiences taught her how to handle different responsibilities, from simple household activities to more important tasks. She believes these experiences contributed significantly to building her confidence and preparing her for challenges in life.

Zoha also expressed deep appreciation for her father, acknowledging the difficulties he faced while raising three children as a single parent. She said that with maturity, she and her siblings now understand the struggles their father went through and how much effort he made to provide for the family.

She explained that family members supported each other by sharing responsibilities, which helped them manage difficult situations together. According to Zoha, this environment also influenced her personality and meant she did not experience the typical rebellious phase many teenagers go through.

The singer’s honest conversation received appreciation from audiences, with many praising her for openly discussing personal experiences and highlighting the strength of single-parent families.

Zoha Waseem gained nationwide recognition after her Punjabi-pop ballad “Majboor” featuring Sheheryar Rehan became a viral success and earned millions of streams on digital platforms. Before achieving mainstream popularity, she gained attention through her Covers by Zoha project.

Following her breakthrough, Zoha continued to release music, including tracks such as “Ki Karaan” and “Duur Ve”, while also receiving recognition through platforms like Spotify Pakistan’s Fresh Finds playlist.

With her growing popularity in Pakistan’s music scene, Zoha Waseem continues to connect with listeners through her songs and personal stories. Her recent discussion about childhood, family responsibilities, and independence has offered fans a deeper look into the experiences that shaped her journey as an artist.
